R4i Gold

R4i Gold Card for Nintendo 3DS 2.1.0-3E and DSi XL 1.4.2E & 1.4.3E

R4i Gold 3DS card (by www.r4i-gold.eu), supporting the latest 3DS firmware 2.1.0-3E & DSi XL 1.4.3E,  is backed by the famous R4i-SDHC team from www.r4i-sdhc.com. Its firmware, kernel and driver updates are among the fastest in the DS flashcart industry.  When the 3DS firmware 2.0.0-2E was released, it took a few days for the R4i Gold team to release their 2.0.0-2 and 2.1.0-3 firmware fixes. Similar speedy firmare updates were released by the r4i-gold.eu when the DSi was updated to 1.4.2 and 1.4.3.

Unlike its predecesor, the latest version of R4i Gold 3DS supports firmware fix just like Acekard 2i does. Gone are the days when a DSi firmware update would permanently block the R4i Gold flashcart on the DSi with the newest firmware. Hence, the latest 3DS R4i Gold is indeed a much better investment for 3DS, DSi or DS Lite.

NOTE:

  • R4i Gold card by www.r4i-gold.eu does not support the popular Wood firmware.
  • R4i-SDHC team is also know as R4i SDHC team and their product is initially coined as R4i SDHC Red. If you are after R4i SDHC, please check out the latest version R4i SDHC 3DS.

R4i Gold Card for Nintendo DS / DS Lite / DSi / DSi XL - Compatible with the 1.4.1 & 1.4 Firmware

Introducing the R4i Gold Card for Nintendo DSi. The first version of R4i Gold by www.r4ids.com was released in Aug 2010, three days after Nintendo released the first firmware update for the DSi console blocking flashcarts such as R4i SDHC. As such, the R4i Gold was the very first linker to be support the DSi firmware 1.4 & 1.4E.

As the DSi firmware was released discretely, many DSi fans and users found out that their existing flashcarts including the R4i SDHC suddenly stopped working on the DSi. The R4i Gold team was quick to respond to the DSi firmware 1.4 update and released their very first version of R4iGold. The release was a big success for the R4i Gold and the team was flooded with orders by distributors and resellers in the very first few days as DSi users were not desperately looking for a working R4i card to use with their DSi consoles.

Another reason that the release of R4i Gold was that the R4i Gold takes all the best features of previous cards, such as the R4i SDHC & R4i Ultra. In addition, the R4i Gold is equipped with the built in firmware update function. This function is very important as it will allow the R4i Gold to update its internal firmware so that it will work with the DSi console even if there is any new firmware release by the Nintendo DSi team.

With the success of the R4i Gold, the other teams such as the R4i SDHC, Acekard & Supercard teams quickly released their corresponding fix for the DSi firmware 1.4. Supercard was the slowest to release their firmware update for their DSONEi. However, the Supercard DSONEi was the first flashcart whose firmware update did not require any DSi console with firmware lower than 1.4 or DS Lite. Unlike the R4i Gold, the Supercard DSONEi only requires a PC and the firmware writer, which is part of the standard Supercard DSONEi package. The R4i Gold and Acekard 2i requires a DSi with firmware lower than 1.4 or DS Lite to update their firmware. The R4i SDHC was not built with a firmware-upgradable chip and came out with a new hardware version called R4i SDHC 1.4.

In Dec 2009, the R4i SDHC team decided to release their own version of R4i Gold as the popularity of their R4i SDHC was significantly challenged by the R4i Gold. This version of the R4i Gold has the official website www.r4i-gold.eu. The R4i Gold by r4i-gold.eu did not pick up as quickly at the beginning. However, with the same technology and support team of R4i SDHC backing up the R4i-gold.eu, the r4i.co.uk website took on the chance to actively promote this R4i Gold. It turned up that it was a small success for r4i-gold.eu.

The R4i Gold 1.4 continued to enjoy a smooth ride until Sep 2010 when Nintendo released another firmware 1.4.1 / 1.4.2 blocking all the popular flashcarts including R4i Gold & R4i SDHC 1.4. The following cards were somehow unaffected by the DSi firmware 1.4.1: EZ Flash 5i, Hyper R4i & Supercard DSTWO.  Among the rest of those affected DSi game cards, the R4i Gold by r4i-gold.eu was the first to release the DSi firmware 1.4.1 fix. The new version of the R4i Gold has a new box with the 1.4.1 clearly labelled on middle of the front.

Since the introduction of R4i Gold by r4i-gold.eu, the R4ids.com has updated their firmware 1.4.1 fix. Users can download the fix from www.r4ids.com and flash their R4i Gold using a DSi 1.4 or DS Lite.  Both versions of R4i Gold are now fully compatible with DSi Firmware 1.4.1E & 1.4E. R4i Gold can work with Nintendo DS, DS Lite and Nintendo DSi, and supports micro SDHC cards up to 32GB.
