Setup Guide

EZ Flash Vi 3DS is a linker Slot1 independent that does not require the use of a superkey or a Passcard 3 and allows data storage on a Micro SD memory card. It allows you to play DS homebrew games natively (without needing to convert - just copy and paste games to your memory card) and play various multimedia formats.

Important Information:

This is a device requires software to be downloaded on to it, enabling it to work. If you are unsure please read the notes above and follow instructions to download, extract and then put the appropriate files onto your microSDHC card.

Also to use the EZ Flash 3DS  you need a microSD or microSDHC card most people choose an 8GB microSD Card but the choice is completely yours depending on the speed or capacity you require.

    I got this card today. Downloaded the driver and firmware from the links and all i get is the message to turn the console off. I bought this card as it says it works with a 3ds on this version. Please help.

      No, EZ Flash Vi is not compatible with 1.4.3e firmware version right now. Please wait for the latest firmware version to be released. 

      Acekard 2i 3DS and DSTWO 3DS are compatible with 1.4.3e firmware.

      Yes, EZ Flash Vi 3DS does not work with v1.4.3 firmware version right now.Please wait for the latest firmware to be released.  It needs to be flashed. It's upgradeable for further version. Acekard 2i and DSTWO supports 1.4.3 firmware version and upgradeable.

    Hi, ive recently brought the ez flash Vi from you guys, no complaints it works just fine, so many thanks, my query is can i play the 3D apps on it, when i put the file on the card it doesent show up in the menu on the screen, if you scould let me know i would be truly grateful..

      Most of the 3D apps and movies can't be played on all the flashcarts available on the market yet. The homebrew community may come up with some interesting software to support the 3D apps and moview very soon.

    Hello, For info: I'm using 3.0 OB6 with my EZ Flash Vi 5 on a DSi XL with 1.4.1 e installed and an 8GB MSD card holding 130 ish games. My question is: When I click on a game, the title of it changes to another random title from the card before loading (perfectly). It's just a small niggle, but I'd appreciate any info you have on how to stop it from doing this. Thanks

      It is compatible with Dsi 1.4.1e update. The latest EZ Flash firmware is Kenerl 3.0 ob1 and firmware v101 for EZVi 705/805. You can refer to the setup guide and download here.

Important:

Please note that not every EZ Flash Vi  needs firmware fix!

Please follow the EZ Flash Vi /5i Driver Setup Guide to setup the card first. 

If you get the error message like this :

An error has occured. Press and hold the POWER Button to turn the system off. Please refer to the Nintendo DSi Operations Manual for details.

Please check the firmware version of your DSi or 3DS according to these two steps:

  • Click SETTING (with the Tool Icon) on the main menu
  • Check the right hand corner of the top screen which says VER 1.x.x

Then choose the correspondent firmware fix guide below to upgrade your EZ Flash Vi to be compatible with your DS console.

DS Compatibility

The following consoles are supported: DS, DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL & 3DS.

For DSi & DSi XL, the supported firmware versions are: 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.4.1, 1.4.2 & 1.4.3.

For 3DS, the supported firmware version are: 1.0.0-1,  2.0.0-2,  2.1.0-3, 2.1.0-4. 2.2.0-4, 3.0.0-5, 3.0.0-6

Installation

Please upgrade the EZ Flash 5i firmware first before installing the driver if you want to use the EZ Flash Vi on the DSi with the latest compatible firmware.

Format a Micro SD/SDHC Card

 

Using Windows XP/Vista/7 Format Tool

After inserting the microSD into the card reader, go to My Computer.

    b)  Right click the driver representing the microSD memory card.

    c)  Choose Format


 

d)  Click Start to format the memory card in FAT32

Using Panasonic Memory Card Format Software

Note:

If your memory cards have capacity bigger than 32GB, please download the SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Cards Format Software.

If your memory cards have capacity equal or smaller than 32GB, please download the SD/SDHC Memory Cards Format Software.

  1. Insert SD/SDHC Memory Card into reader/writer.
  2. Click on [Start], point to [All Programs] -> [Panasonic] -> [SD Formatter VX.X], and click on [SD Formatter VX.X].
    1. “X.X” means the version number of SD Memory Card Formatting Software.
    2. If “User Account Control” window is displayed on the screen, please click on [Arrow].
  3. The main window is displayed on the screen.
  4. Select the target drive by drive list and check SD/SDHC Memory Card size.
  5. Click on [Format].
  6. After clicking on it, confirmation window is displayed on the screen. Here, if [OK] is clicked, this software executes the format operation. On the contrary, if [Cancel] is clicked, this software cancels the format operation and returns to the main window.
  7. The following status window is displayed on the screen during the format operation.

    Note: [Cancel] on this window is available only if either “FULL (Erase ON)” or “FULL (Erase OFF)” is selected as format type option. If “QUICK” is selected as format type option, this button is not available.

  8. After the format operation completion, click [OK] and remove the Memory Card from your PC.
  9. Reinsert the memory card to the PC to start using the memory card.

Using Mac Memory Card Format Tool

  1. Plug your memory card reader into a USB port on your Mac. Insert the microSD / microSDHC card into the memory card reader's microSD / microSDHC slot, and the microSD / microSDHC card will mount on your Mac desktop.
  2. In an open Finder window, single-click "Applications" in the Side-Bar and scroll down to find the Utilities folder. Find Disk Utility in the Utilities folder and double-click the "Disk Utility" application to launch it.
  3. In the opened Disk Utility application, single-click to select the microSD / microSDHC card in the left-hand Drives column. Then, single-click to select the "Erase" button in the top row of radio buttons. Select the format MS-DOS (FAT) to format the microSD / microSDHC card on the "Volume Format" pop-up button.  When you have finished selecting the formatting options, click "Erase."
  4. A new dialogue box will pop up in "Disk Utility," asking if you are sure you wish to erase the microSD / microSDHC card. Caution: Erasing the microSD / microSDHC card will permanently erase any files. Make sure you have backed up any file you wish to keep. To continue with the formatting process, click "Erase."
  5. Once the microSD / microSDHC card has been erased, it will mount on your Mac desktop just as any other removable drive.

EZ Flash Vi / 5i Firmware Fix for 3DS v3.0.0 - 6 &  DSi / DSi Xl v1.4.3 

Please take note that the upgrade needs to be done on one of the following consoles. If you don't have one, please borrow one from your friends, your neighbors or the game shops. 

a.     3DS with firmware version lower than 2.2.0-4E

b.    DSi / DSi XL with firmware version lower than 1.4.3E

c.     DS Lite / DS

Note: When upgrading the EZ Flash Vi card, it is not allowed to turn off power or pull out the card; otherwise the card will be damaged.

1.    Format your MicroSD card in FAT 32 first.

2.    Download the latest driver 3.0 OB7 and firmware EZ5F108A.

3.    Unzip the files downloaded on your PC, you will have files as below.

changelogs.txt

ez5isys.bin

ez5firmwreUP_V108a.nds

V108a changelogs.txt

 

4.  Select all the above five unzipped files and copy them onto the root of the MicroSD / SDHC memory card without any folder.

5.  Plug in the Micro SD / SDHC card to the EZ Flash Vi. Insert the EZ Flash Vi with the MicroSD / SDHC card into the slot 1 of the DS console. Turn on the DS console.

     a.   For DS & DS Lite, you will see the WARNING – HEALTH AND SAFETY message. Please touch the touch screen or press button A to continue.  

b.    For DSi or DSi XL, an icon with the message “Tak The Great Juju Challenge THQ” above it will appear. Please touch the icon or press button   A to continue.

6.  Wait for the EZ Flash Vi to load.

7.  When you see this menu, please select  " ez5firmwreUP_V108a.nds " and press A to continue. 

  

8. Then you will see the following message, please press Y to continue.

   

9. Next, the console will tell you the current firmware version of your EZ Flash Vi. If it's 106, or any version lower than 108, then please press A to continue.

10. Waiting EZ Flash Vi to upgrade. 

10. The following message means that you have upgraded the firmware successfully. Please restart the console. 

12. The icon on the main menu has been changed to the following icon. The icon means you have upgraded the EZ Flash Vi Firmware successfully. Please enjoy yourself.

EZ Flash Vi Setup Guide

  1. Unzip the file downloaded (using Winrar) on your P Unzip the file downloaded (using Winrar) on your PC
    1. Winrar can be downloaded from www.download.com by searching for Winrar at the Search.
    2. Unzip the files mentioned under the Software Preparation above, you will have three folders and one file as follows.
      3.0 OB6

       EZ5Shell
       changelogs.txt
       ez5firmwreUP_V101.nds
       ez5firmwreUP_V103.nds
       ez5isys.bin

       

  2. Select all the above fives unzipped files and copy them to the microSD memory card
     
  3. Copy your own files, including music, movies, pictures and other data to the Micro SD/SDHC memory card.
     
  4. Plug in the Micro SD/SDHC to the Supercard DSTWO. Insert the EZ Flash Vi with the microSD into the slot 1 of the DS console. Turn on the DS console.   
     
  5. For DS & DS Lite , you will see the WARNING – HEALTH AND SAFETY message. Please touch the touch screen or press button A to continue.

     

  6. For DSi or DSi XL, Tak The Great Juju Challenge THQ. Please touch the icon or press button A to continue.

     

  7. Wait for the EZ Flash Vi to load.

     

     

  8. Congratulation if you have come this far as you have successfully set up your EZ Flash Vi. There you go. Enjoy your DS with the multimedia functions.
