There is a rumour that yet another type of R4i, namely the Hyper-R4i, is being launched by the new team named Hyper R4i at www.hyper4i.com. R4i SDHC and R4i Ultra are currently the other two known R4i cards for Nintendo DSi.
The new Hyper R4i is claimed to have the Core-Duo Upgrade Technology, whereby both the kernel and the firmware can be upgraded. This differs from other flash cards which only support the kernel upgrade. According to Hyper-R4i, the firmware upgrade can solve the common problem faced by other flash cards: when the DSi console has the firmware upgraded from the Nintendo website, the new firmware may render the flash card incompatible with the DSi console.
Please stay tuned for further information on the Hyper-R4i.
