Great product! now with the ripping facility on the firmware . Nice and easy to install the mod chip and works perfectly. Even runs out of region games on 4.2 as long as you use gecko loader. An awesome piece of kit , do not hesitate to buy !!!

Imperfect

Casing arrived pink (not white) + it doesn't fully support all GameCube games when playing from HDD (and never will do due to hardware limitations).
If only USB had more power...

Excellent product, nice to see that the firmware is being updated reasonably regularly too.
The only reason this didn't get 5 stars from me is that the USB is a "bare minimum" usb - in so far as it appears to only supply 500mA when most "Passport" drives actually require 650mA - not a problem is you connect it to a powered hub, but bit of a pain.
Don't let this put you off though - its an excellent product.

The future of modding...

This was so easy to install and works a treat. Once it gets around the 4.2e firmware issue it will be perfect! Highly recommended
It's really really good, almost perfect.

Excellent mod, works really well, and is very easy to install. I have never owned another mod, so I'm not comparing it to others.
I deduct one star for the following reasons:
1. The base is bigger and bulkier than it needs to be. And the design assumes you want you Wii standing vertically - which I don't
2. Playing original games is a hassle, but I guess it will be fixed with firmware. You have to turn your Wii completely off and on again.
3. The wode does not power down when your Wii goes to standby, you have to shut it down completely.
The Best HardMod

This hard mod is by far the best i've seen so far. The format I have on my USB HDD is FAT32 and the games I have on it are of .wbfs format, this is a great combination because not only can you rip games to the HDD when the update comes out (Including the new .bca file protected games like NSMB) but the size of the files on my HDD are tiny! so I can fit almost the same amount of games as there is GB's on the hard drive.
In relation to the below review about the DVD drive making more noise cause its not pinned down, if you secure it enough without putting to much pressure on it, there aint even a knock out of the DVD drive, the only noise it makes is of the drive spinning twice on console power on which is normal.
All in all, this Mod Chip has the most room for improvement as it is all based on a Linux machine, the community as well is great, they do there best to resolve any issues you have with either setting it up or a game not working. With this all I can say is thank you WODE Team for an easy to install flawless system!
Needs polishing but works OK

First of all, if you're on system menu 4.2 this device won't allow you to play out-of-region backups. I know they don't claim that on their forums and I think it's basically normal that FW4.2 is not able to do so, but I think that this is important. You still can get around this by softmodding your Wii.
Secondly, my WODE jukebox is slightly pink (depending on the lighting). This is a fault in production, they already know about. Hopefully this will be solved in the 2nd or 3rd batch.
The noise level of my Wii has gone up way too much (you cannot fully tighten the screws of the DVD drive again, so it's vibrating quite a bit when sticking in DVDs).
The Firmware of the WODE doesn't yet allow you to rip DVDs to USB/SD media. It's still a feature to be added.
The now available GameCube configuration ISO included in Firmware 1.20 doesn't look as appealing as softmodded solutions do.
Installation has been hassle free, though the cable coming out of the Wii gave me some headache. In combination with children this is a potential source of error because the connector on the WODE slave board is very filigree.
BUT I still would recommend this chip, as it has quite much potential and the community around it seems to be active and friendly. Beside of the flaws mentioned above I'm happy with it, because I finally can backup my GameCube games to HDD and even multi disc games are working flawlessly now :)
It really is a great piece of hardware and I'm looking forward to the next firmware update :D
Wii Chip with long term benefits

The package arrived with short delay (which the support announced by email).
Everything was as described and the jukebox (I've got a withe one) looks just fine.
The installation videos from the official site (or youtube) are of very good quality and easy to follow.
It took me about 30 minutes to demount, install the chip and reassemble the Wii again.
...and I've never done this before. Nevertheless I would prefer to pay some one 20 bucks to do it for me.
The update of the firmware was done in about 10 min. and the game(s) from my external HD was immediately recognized.
The display is glowing with a soft withe light and is easy to read. Loading time of the game is comparable to inserting a real disc.
Bottom line: Thumbs up! Would recommend to every Wii owner.
well happy with the wode !
